The first item in this month’s newsletter is about the last week’s big news announcement - £40m available for local authorities to support action on fuel poverty, green deal and collective energy switching.


DECC have now published a set of Quick Guides on the Green Deal for householders, owners, tenants and landlords.  Please share these guides with your colleagues, members and local residents.


To supplement CLASP’s training on energy statement formulation and evaluation CLASP has gathered together links to resources that authorities can use to evaluate proposals (and to help applicants submit proposals in a way that provides the necessary information).


There is a growing interest in the North West in the development of local hydro-power schemes. In response to requests from authorities on our recent training courses and site visits CLASP has gathered together a map of key current resources, technical advice, case-studies and other sources of information in a simple click-through format.


The Local Government Association has launched “Climate Local” a new drive which will see councils committing to their own local actions to reduce carbon emissions and improve their ability to protect people and services from the anticipated changes in the weather.


Following discussion in Parliament regarding whether it would be appropriate to set local carbon budgets the Committee on Climate Change were requested by Greg Barker to provide advice on the role of local authorities in delivering emissions reductions.


On 25 April 2012, CLASP co-hosted "Nearer to Zero" in Manchester, with over 130 delegates from local government and the house building industry.
