The Local Government Association has launched “Climate Local” a new drive which will see councils committing to their own local actions to reduce carbon emissions and improve their ability to protect people and services from the anticipated changes in the weather.

Following discussion in Parliament regarding whether it would be appropriate to set local carbon budgets the Committee on Climate Change were requested by Greg Barker to provide advice on the role of local authorities in delivering emissions reductions.
