Low Carbon Skills North West: How to Raise the Game (March 2013)
This project explored the standing of Low Carbon Skills in Wigan with a small sample of educators and employers and which aimed to identify practical steps local authorities and partners can take to support skills development in the low carbon sector.
The research was carried out in the Wigan area but is applicable across the NW, looking at influencing factors for employers and educators. The project was commissioned by Wigan Council to continue their work supporting growth of the low carbon economy both in Wigan and in the North West as a whole. It was undertaken by New Economy (www.neweconomymanchester.com) and Cooler Projects CIC (www.coolerprojects.com).
This project was awarded funding support from CLASP in 2012/13 for its potential to identify common current issues, barriers and practical actions that local authorities and educators can take to support career development in the low carbon sector.
