Low Carbon Procurement
The Low Carbon Procurement project involved working with Local Authorities in the North West to identify areas of significant spend where it may be possible to find ‘lower carbon’ supply options. Key outputs from the Low Carbon Procurement included the following:
Strictly Sustainability Event
The NWIEP Procurement Programme held a free all day event for procurement professionals, sustainability professionals and asset management leads. Guidance Documents
A suite of Guidance Documents entitled Simple Steps to Environmentally Sustainable Procurement – Putting Policy into Practice have been produced to illustrate good practice in environmentally sustainable procurement.

A number of awareness raising presentations were also delivered:
- A presentation to the AGMA Vehicle Procurement and Maintenance (VPMM) programme on vehicle procurement.
- A presentation to the NW Fire and Rescue Procurement Leads to introduce the project and provide some supporting information on uniform procurement.
- A supporting briefing note aimed at suppliers entitled ‘Low Carbon Procurement – A Guidance Note for Suppliers was produced to raise awareness of ‘low carbon’ procurement in the public sector and how to access public sector opportunities through the ‘Chest’ and ‘Bluelight’.
